On April 24, 2019, the Confucius Institute at CSULB was invited to participate the 2019 Festival of Asian Cultures at Cerritos College. The festival brought together various community members for a celebration of the diverse cultures of Asia. The day’s events showcased performances, activity booths, workshops, free food, prizes, and giveaways.

The Confucius Institute had several activities at their booth, including tea tasting, lantern-making, and a Chinese characters guessing game. CI also promoted their scholarships and various programs to promote understanding of Chinese culture.  Students as well as many other people from the local community stopped by to engage in all the activities, generating a lot of interest in upcoming CI activities.

Through this event, the relationship between CI and Cerritos College’s Chinese program was strengthened. Three Cerritos students represented CI while competing in the Chinese Bridge preliminary language contest, and all of them won awards. The two programs are planning to collaborate for additional competitions in the 2019-20 school year.
