In April, the American Language Institute (ALI) welcomed its new Director, Jacqueline Record. In her position, Record oversees the administration of all ALI programs, which include semester-long, short-term, specialized, and Master of Business Administration (MBA Prep) options for international students to improve their academic English language skills.
During her first week, Record jumped right in to ALI’s ongoing process of reaccreditation with the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation, which is designed to improve the quality of the program through peer review.
“It’s been very exciting to join the A L I team at this juncture,” said Record. “There is a great team of people here in ALI and CCPE. One thing I think is noteworthy is the high level of collaboration within the program and the college, and the great environment that creates for everyone. Having both administrative and teaching experience has been really useful, because the director oversees both the academic and the administrative areas of the program.'
Record was previously the Director of the Program in Intensive English at Northern Arizona University, and spent nearly 20 years as an ESL teacher and administrator. Record earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Spanish from Knox College, and a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics (TESOL) from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
