International Education Week
Every November, the Center for International Education (CIE) celebrates International Education Week (IEW) with our CSULB campus partners. International Education Week
is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. Schools throughout the U.S. celebrate IEW through campus programming and events. Click here for more information on how CSULB celebrates IEW
CSULB Diplomatic Corps
The CSULB Diplomatic Corps serves to promote cultural awareness and global exchange among the students at CSULB and with the Long Beach community. Students may apply to become part of the Diplomatic Corps as an Intercultural Diplomat (ID) or Global Peer Ambassador (GPA).
- Intercultural Diplomats: The Center for International Education is partnering with the California Global Education Project at CSULB to develop the Intercultural Diplomats (ID) Program. The ID Program is a cross-cultural exchange program for K-12 classrooms in the Long Beach community. Diplomats are CSULB international students who are selected to give lessons that encourage global competence, appreciation of other cultures, and create a positive relationship between members of different cultures. Diplomats will develop global competency and leadership skills while also forming a positive relationship with persons from multiple, diverse American backgrounds. Click here for more information about the program and how to apply. Applications for international students are open until October 20, 2019.
- Global Peer Ambassadors: The Global Peer Ambassador (GPA) program is a partnership with the CSULB student government organization, Associated Students, Inc. Global Peer Ambassadors (GPA) are selected from domestic and international student applicants to welcome and greet new international students during orientation. New international students connect with GPAs to get assistance in adjusting to life on campus, while GPAs make a positive impact on international students and develop cross-cultural communication and leadership skills. Click here for more information about the program and how to apply. Applications for GPAs will open in Spring 2020 to greet the Fall 2020 incoming class.
