  • From Tuesday, January 21 - Monday, February 3: You may not need instructor or department approval to add a class. However, if the class is full or you do not meet the pre-requisite requirements for a course you will need to obtain approval.

    Beginning Tuesday, February 4: An instructor's signature is required to add any course.

    If a course you are interested in taking in the College of Engineering has prerequisites and/or is full, you may not be able to enroll through self-service or in-person registration.

    If the courses has prerequisites or requires department consent, please fill out the Course Approval Request Form. This is a form that you can submit online; it does not require signatures. The form will require the following information.  

    • Full name
    • ID number, if you have one
    • Course Subject and Catalog Number
    • Class Number (4- or 5- Digit number in the Class Schedule)
    • A scanned copy of your transcripts. Unofficial copies are fine.

    Once you submit your information, please allow 1-2 business days for a response. You may be required to submit further documentation to determine your eligibility, so it is important to you check and respond to email correspondence. If we determine that you are qualified to take a course, we will send you further information on how to register.

    If the course is full, you will first need to attend the class and obtain the instructor’s signature on an Open University registration form. Next, you will need to visit the department chair for final approval. You can then return to the CPIE registration windows with the signed form to register in person. If the department issues a permit, and you have access to self-service registration through MyCSULB, you can register and pay online.
