California State University, Long Beach requires all international F-1 and J-1 visa students to enroll and maintain health insurance coverage before the first day of classes, in order to avoid the threat to financial obligations that uninsured students face. Also, if you fail to enroll and maintain the required health insurance coverage, you will not be enrolled in classes; and therefore, will not be able to participate in the program, which may result in violation of your immigration status.
For instructions on how to enroll, review the steps below or view the video that follows.
If you are unable to provide proof of the required immunizations before your arrival to the U.S., you will need to receive the vaccinations at the CSULB Student Health Services (SHS) at a low cost, or find a service provider through your insurance carrier to complete the immunizations and forms required.
If you are able to provide proof of the required immunizations, scan and email the completed immunization clearance forms to: email@example.com. In your email to SHS, include the following information:
Subject line: ALI Student
Full Name, Date of Birth, and Country of citizenship. Also include where you will be living (off-campus or on-campus dorms)
Don’t forget to attach your immunization clearance forms!
A nurse from CSULB will review your immunization clearance forms and will be in contact with you and the ALI Office.
For more information about the requirements, visit the Student Health Services page. For information about the consequences of not being cleared, refer to the ALI Student Handbook.
